Adrian College Creates Lenawee Christian Scholarships

Schools join forces to form great partnership

Adrian College is pleased to announce its partnership with Lenawee Christian School by offering LCS students two scholarship opportunities, the Merillat Scholarship and the Lenawee Christian Scholarship.

According to Andy Spohn, director of financial aid at Adrian College, the scholarships were developed as a way to thank Orville and Ruth Merillat for the years of dedication they have shown to the Adrian community, Lenawee Christian School, and Adrian College.

“Adrian College also developed these scholarships to honor all of the hard work Lenawee Christian students have done and to make Adrian College a more affordable choice for them,” says Spohn.

The Lenawee Christian Scholarship will be awarded by Adrian College to five Lenawee Christian students each academic school year. The scholarship is in the amount of $10,000 per year per student for a four year period.

The requirements for the scholarship include four years of a Lenawee Christian high school education, a 3.30 or higher cumulative grade point average, and an ACT score of 22 or higher. Students must also apply and be admitted to the Adrian College incoming freshman class and recipients must reside in campus housing during their time of study.

The scholarships will be awarded to the first five deposits received by Adrian College after which a waiting list will be created for other LCS applicants.

The Merillat Scholarship will be awarded to two LCS students each academic year in the amount of, $15,000 per student per year for four years of study.

The requirements for this award include the aforementioned for the Lenawee Christian Scholarship but these students must also rank in the top 10 of their graduating class. LCS will work in conjunction with Adrian College to select recipients for this scholarship.
