Dear Parents and Friends of Lenawee Christian School,
The administration at LCS has been following and studying many educational trends. Prompted by the number of schools in our county that had already converted to a trimester schedule and the changing state of Michigan standards we put together a task force last September to study the concept and the possible suitability for our school.
The group that has studied this included teachers, administration and board members. As the study proceeded we found more and more reasons why trimesters will be a tool to help us fulfill our mission of partnering with parents and the church to integrate biblical truth for life for spiritual maturity and academic excellence.
I invite you to review the enclosed information to familiarize yourself with the changes that will take place next year. You can also view most of these materials on-line on the LCS website as well as links to other websites with more information and research on trimesters.
One major change we are planning for next year is to begin the school year on August 31st, the week before Labor Day. Because Labor Day is September 7th the public schools will not start until September 8th. We chose to begin a week earlier so our first trimester would finish before Thanksgiving and we would be able to be complete our school year the first week of June in 2010.
I want to especially thank our LCS board members and LCS administration team for putting countless hours into this process. I also want to thank many of you parents who came to our forums and asked great questions and gave us valuable input that has shaped how we are preparing for this transition.
Lastly, as you read this I want to ask you to pray for the faculty and staff at LCS. Our overriding desire and motivation is to provide an environment that will provide the best spiritual, academic, social and emotional environment for the growth and development of the young people entrusted to our care.
Trusting in Him,

Ron Evans
