Financial Aid, Discounts, & Scholarships

Between Financial Aid and Discounts, the average student at LCS receives 30% off of their tuition this year.  Financial Aid is need based where as Discounts apply to all students or families that meet the criteria.  Please read below to see where you may or may not qualify.

Lenawee Christian School offers up to a 50% scholarship for students based on financial need.  Scholarship dollars are dependent on the generosity of the school's various benefactors and the various fundraising efforts done by parents each year.  Given the current economic environment in Lenawee County, there has never been a greater need. We ask that everyone get involved either through financial support or helping in one of our fundraising events such as the annual LCS Auction.

Each year the LCS Board, as a group of parents, directs and approves the Financial Aid formula for the school. The goal of the LCS Board is to have an equitable process for all families wishing to attend LCS.  The financial formula begins with a families' Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) from their tax return and weighs that against typical core household expenses based on the size/age of the family. Appeals may be brought to the Finance Director of LCS for changes in employment status or income versus the prior year's tax return. Other appeals will be made to the LCS Board Finance Committee as required.

LCS utilizes FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment (www.factstuitionaid.com) as our on-line partner in collecting financial aid information from applicants.  FACTS services over 5,000 educational institutions and a million families each year.  Click on the FACTS logo in the upper right hand corner of this page to begin your Financial Aid Application for LCS.  FACTS may also be reached at 1-800-624-7092. We would be more than happy to assist you in the Central Office as well if you have questions.

Key Policy Notes:

  • All Financial Aid Applications must be received in full by the end of the first two weeks of a trimester. If applications are not completed in time, the family will not be eligible for financial aid until the following trimester.  New students enrolling within the school year will have two weeks from their initial enrollment to complete the financial aid process.
  • Financial Aid funds are limited to the amount raised from benefactors and activities such as the LCS Auction. Scholarships are treated on a first come, first serve basis so we encourage families needing aid to apply early.
  • Parents may appeal the Financial Aid Assessment to the Finance Director on the grounds of 1) a change in income (AGI) since their prior year tax return, 2) a home equity LOC that was made to increase the value of your home (proof required), and 3) extraordinary circumstances in Out-of-Pocket Medical expenses.

DISCOUNTS

FAMILY SIZE DISCOUNT - - Families receive 20% discount off of tuition starting at the third enrolled student.  This is applied before financial aid.  For example, a third child that is in Kindergarten would have a tuition rate of $5,200 reduce to $4,160.  If they then received 30% in financial aid their actual tuition cost would be under $3,640 for that third child.

CLERGY DISCOUNT - - All full-time pastors or clergy receive a 50% discount on tuition.  They are not eligible for financial aid above that amount.  In order to receive this discount, a letter of good standing is required from the pastor's church board.  Any changes in a pastor's status need to be given to the Central Office within two weeks.

ALUMNI DISCOUNT - - All LCS alumni bringing their children to LCS receive an additional 5% off their tuition.  This is applied before financial aid is applied.

TRIP PROGRAM - -  Many of our families earn more than $1,000 per year utilizing the Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (TRIP). Through TRIP, families earn between 2 and 20 percent back on purchases made from many grocery stores, department stores, restaurants, and other retailers.  Nearly 2/3 of LCS families utilized TRIP last year and they earned a total in $64,000 in tuition credit. For more information, please read the document below or visit the TRIP Office located in the elementary wing of the school on Mondays, (8am-9am), Thursdays (3pm-4pm), or Friday (8am-9am).
