Spiritual Curriculum

Lenawee Christian teaches biblical truth throughout all grades.  Our curriculum is integrated throughout a student's studies and builds as they progress from elementary to junior high to high school.  The Bible is our constant, but we are always striving for new ways to lay out God's truth to our students and help them solidify and ultimately defend their Christian worldview.  Key to our mission is the partnership between the school and parents and the church.  Our curriculum supports that partnership.  In interpretive areas of Scripture, such as baptism or end times, we defer to parents and churches.  We encourage parents to talk with their teachers and administration to learn more about our Christian curriculum.

 Pre-K and Kindergarten

Prayer is a key part of a every day for our Pre-K and Kindergarten classes.  Bible stories are presented through books, art, and music that engage the children.  Pre-K students memorize Psalm 23. Kindergarten students memorize a new scripture each month.  Classroom discipline, expectations, and conduct are all supported by Biblical principles.

Grades 1 - 4

Bible classes are taught in each of our elementary classes at LCS. We want our students to know and to love the Word of God. It is our foundation for life. During Bible class and also class devotion times, students have the opportunity to ask questions about life, share prayer requests, learn from fellow classmates who may come from a different denominational background, and most importantly learn Truth from the source of all Truth.  During the elementary years the students learning is focused on Old Testament heroes of faith, as well as the life of Jesus. This is precious time and we value the freedom we enjoy to be able to study the Word of God openly.

Grades 5 - 6

Old Testament focus.  Students dive in and examine a loving Creator that is radically involved with every facet of the world in which we live as revealed in scripture. Classroom teachers will guide students with God as they seem Him love, act, and move through history and unfold the  plan for redemption and reconciliation.

Grades 7 - 8

Students will see the prophecies that they have learned about in the Old Testament revealed in the New Testament.  They will see an invading, inviting, persuading, holy, and eternal love reach down to Earth.  They will learn in detail about the ultimate expression of God's holiness and love through the death of His son, Jesus Christ.  They will learn the history of New Testament times and dive into the lives of the Apostles as the Good News spreads from Jerusalem to Galilee to the uttermost parts of the world.

Grades 9 - 10

Students learn more about Jesus Christ and the Triune nature of God.  They discover the the Truth of his nature and character as revealed through scripture.  The 66 books of the Bible are looked at as one story from beginning to end.  We firmly establish the Bible as Truth and "God-breathed."

Grade 11 - 12

We offer 11th and 12th grade students the opportunity to choose between several electives on focused on life application.  The Bible is more than sufficient to ask and answer all of life's questions -- nothing needs to be added or subtracted.  It is meant for all.  Juniors and Senior students will investigate God's truths through elective classes such as Ethics, Apologetics and Doctrine, Mere Christianity, Marriage & Family, Life Calling, or MIssio Dei.  These classes allow students to dive deeper into areas of interest or places where they want to dive deeper.  We encourage the students to think and raise their questions up to be answered by our faculty or even their peers.
