Hello, my name is Amy O’Brien. I grew up in Riga, MI, just south of Blissfield. I went to LCS from 1st grade through 12th grade. I graduated in 1998. I graduated from Calvin College with my Bachelor’s degree in 2002, majoring in Language Arts and Elementary Education.
I taught at St. Joseph Academy for two years (4th grade L.A. and 1st-4th PE, MS Spanish). I taught in Florida for four years (3rd grade, HS Reading, English, PE., and special education.) I taught for Adrian Public Schools for five years (6th grade L.A. and 4th grade). I started at LCS in 2015-16, teaching 5th grade. Each experience has taught me something about the learners who come into my classroom and how to best meet the variety of needs these learners bring.
I married Chad O’Brien in 2005, and we have two children, Ashlynn and Allston. Chad is a teacher and coach at Saline High School. We love to take family trips and spend lots of time playing outside and spending time as a family. I enjoy watching and playing sports, especially football, volleyball, and softball. I love music, especially singing, and spending time with my family.
My family attends Grace Point Church, where I serve in the children’s ministry during check-in.
