Mrs. Houpt joined Lenawee Christian as the Director of Little Cougars in 2017. Amy attended Eastern Michigan University where she received a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education with three minors in English, history and science as well as a Masters of Arts in Early Childhood Education. Prior to coming to LCS, Mrs. Houpt worked at Washtenaw Christian Academy for 20 years where she taught in preschool, 2nd grade and middle school. Amy held several other positions, including preschool director, elementary principal and head of school. Amy and her husband, Chad, have been married for over 25 years and have two grown boys in their early 20’s. Their family worships at Bethany Assembly.
Mrs. Hartwig joined the teaching staff at Lenawee Christian in 2008. Heather earned her BS in Psychology at Michigan State University, her Post Baccalaureate Teaching Certificate at Eastern Michigan University and her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University. Heather grew up in Munising in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Heather and her husband, Andy, have two boys. Avery will graduate from LCS in 2021 and Nolan in 2023. Their family worships at 2/42 Community Church in Ann Arbor, MI.
Mr. Bempong joined LCS in 2018. He grew up in the Detroit area and graduated from Southfield Lathrup High School. After high school, Ben earned his BA in Physical Education with an emphasis on Sport Leadership. He earned both his MA in Sport Administration and Education Specialist degree from Central Michigan University (CMU). He also earned his ED.D in Educational leadership from Central Michigan University. Ben joined the LCS team after working with students at the Boys and Girls Club of Lenawee. His work experience there, and prior, have provided him experience in relationship building, conflict resolution, and behavior management. When not working with students, Mr. Bempong enjoys reading Christian theology books and working out. Ben worships our Savior with the congregation at Tecumseh Missionary Baptist Church.
As Director of Advancement at LCM, Mekeisha works on behalf of both Lenawee Christian School and the Christian Family Centre. This includes, but is not limited to, grant writing, hosting fundraising events, community relations, and working with our generous donors.
Mrs. Black is a long-time resident of Lenawee County, growing up in Sand Creek and now residing in Adrian with her husband, Aaron. She studied social work at Eastern Michigan University and holds certification in non-profit development from the University of Notre Dame. Before joining LCM, Mekeisha served as the Executive Director of Care Pregnancy Center of Lenawee, as well as various roles with Tecumseh Public Schools, Washtenaw Area Council for Children, and the Detroit Tigers.

After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Grace College (IN), Dr. Colman completed his Master’s and PhD in Music Education at Michigan State University. His training in the music arts led him to Cedarville University where he moved from music faculty into university leadership. After 14 years with Cedarville, Colman accepted senior leadership positions in Academic Affairs at Oklahoma Baptist University, and Charleston Southern University, before becoming the President at Jupiter Christian School (JCS) in Jupiter, Florida. In 2016, Jim joined the LCM team as CEO of LCS’s parent organization, Lenawee Christian Ministries.
“Over the past three decades, God has provided a wealth of experiences to shape me for this role at Lenawee Christian Ministries,” Dr. Colman said. “My wife, Becky and I are excited and honored to serve the Lenawee County community by joining the great work that is in progress at the Christian Family Centre and Lenawee Christian School.” Dr. Colman and his wife have two children, Kristin and Michael. Jim loves composing and arranging music, auctions, and spending time with his grandchildren.
