Lenawee Christian Ministries (LCM) is pleased to announce the selection of Mekeisha Black as the organization’s next Director of Advancement. Black will begin serving on January 8, 2018 and will oversee fundraising efforts for Lenawee Christian School and the Christian Family Centre. She becomes LCM’s full-time development officer following Katie Young’s departure to become the Executive Director of Development at ProMedica in Adrian.
Black is a long-time resident of Lenawee County, growing up in Sand Creek and now residing in Adrian with her husband, Aaron. She studied social work at Eastern Michigan University and holds certification in non-profit development from the University of Notre Dame. Before joining LCM, Mekeisha served as the Executive Director of Care Pregnancy Center of Lenawee, as well as various roles with Tecumseh Public Schools, Washtenaw Area Council for Children, and the Detroit Tigers.
“I’m both humbled and honored to have this opportunity at Lenawee Christian Ministries,” Mekeisha said. “During my studies at Eastern Michigan University, I knew I wanted to work in a non-profit organization. My subsequent work at CPC helped me discover a passion for development and advancement within the non-profit realm. Telling others about the work of non-profit ministries is one of the things I enjoy most, and I look forward to sharing the stories of LCS and The Centre.”
Dr. Jim Colman, CEO, stated, “Mekeisha has a wonderful blend of excellent interpersonal skills and passion to build non-profit ministries by connecting with people who want to help. She has the skills and enthusiasm to move our development efforts forward.”
