One of the long-standing traditions of the high school experience at LCS is the course called Worldview and the Media. The course is designed to teach students to engage their mind as they enjoy movies, music, and other media. An author or screenwriter’s worldview comes out in everything they do, so students learn to identify key components within movies and then analyze them based on the truth of scripture.
One of our alumni has taken his study of movies to a high level, and his professional reviews have given him a unique platform within the movie industry. 1993 graduate Aaron Dicer was recently spotted hanging out with many familiar Hollywood faces at the 20th Annual Critics Choice Movie Awards as a member of the BFCA (Broadcast Film Critics Association). As a member, he votes on the awards and attends the awards program each year. The awards aired live on A&E Thursday, January 15th, and he posted pictures, including this one with actor Kevin Costner, throughout the evening for his twitter, Instagram, and Facebook followers. Aaron has been reviewing films non-professionally since his time at LCS and professionally for the past 5 years. His work on NBC affiliate KY3tv in Springfield, MO is what eventually led to him being invited into the association.

We pray that God continues to bless Aaron as he uses this platform of movie reviews to help people discern what films they should view. As he cleverly states on his website, “he sees everything so you don’t have to.”
