LCS is excited to announce an expansion to our college preparatory program, aimed at students who are planning to enter a college or university after high school. LCS has a long history of preparing students for entrance into college, consistently leading county schools in standardized test scores such as the ACT, SAT, and Michigan Merit Exams. This expanded program offers families a greater return on their investment in private education by providing access to transcripted college credit courses, opening new scholarship opportunities for students, and an offering of college readiness courses and exploratory experiences starting in middle school and continuing until graduation.
This past year, as a pilot class for this program, the class of 2014 earned more scholarship dollars than any class in our history. One of those students, Grant Hohlbein (left), was incredibly active in high school, earning Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Class D Scholar-Athlete Award, and All-State honors in football, basketball and baseball. He participated with the Debate Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Forensic League, National Honor Society, theater, and was also student council president. He was awarded over $400,000 in scholarships and had 20 college credit hours and 6 advanced placement (AP) credits when he graduated high school. He is attending Taylor University, majoring in politics, philosophy, and economics (PPE). ‘‘The concurrent credit classes were extremely helpful and saved me a lot of money in the long run. I came to Taylor University with 26 college credits! Overall, the workload and expectations of the concurrent credit and AP Classes helped me become comfortable with college level academia before I even stepped foot on Taylor’s campus.”
