Position Summary:
Lenawee Christian School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Science Teacher to join our academic team. The ideal candidate will inspire students in grades 6–8 to explore and understand core scientific principles through engaging, hands-on lessons and inquiry-based learning. The teacher will cover subjects such as Earth science, life science, and physical science, aligned with state and national standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach middle school science courses (e.g. Earth Science, Life Science, Physical Science), aligned with the LCS curriculum and Michigan academic standards.
Create lesson plans that integrate a Christian worldview and help students see God’s design in creation and scientific order.
Incorporate hands-on experiments, inquiry-based learning, and real-world applications.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and abilities.
Maintain a classroom culture of respect, curiosity, and academic growth.
Assess and evaluate student progress using both formal and informal methods.
Communicate regularly with parents regarding student academic and spiritual development.
Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to support student learning and school initiatives.
Participates actively in school life, including chapel, staff devotions, extracurricular activities, and professional development.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and attendance.
Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports academic and personal growth.
Qualifications:
Christian Faith:
Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Adherence to Christian principles and values in both personal and professional life.
Educational Background/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Education or Science (or related field)
Valid Michigan teaching certification or eligibility
Prior teaching experience at the middle school level is preferred.
Strong classroom management and communication skills.
Passion for working with middle school students and a deep understanding of their developmental needs.
A personal and active faith in Jesus Christ and agreement with the LCS Statement of Faith
A calling to Christian education and a heart for middle school students
Preferred:
Experience with STEM education or project-based learning.
Proficiency with educational technology tools
Teaching experience at the middle school level
Experience in integrating biblical worldview into classroom instruction
