Welcome to Lenawee Christian School’s Volunteer Hub!

At Lenawee Christian School, we are committed to walking alongside families in providing an exceptional, Christ-centered education. One of the ways we do this is through our financial aid program, which often provides thousands of dollars in annual savings for families. Offering this level of support requires faithful stewardship and a strong partnership between the school and our families.

The Volunteer Service Program (VSP) strengthens that partnership. Participation in VSP is a condition of receiving tuition assistance and allows families to actively support the mission, programs, and community of Lenawee Christian School.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering at LCS is about building relationships, creating meaningful experiences, and fostering a positive school culture. Your involvement helps provide a safe and encouraging environment where students can grow academically, socially, and spiritually.

While the VSP specifically supports families receiving tuition assistance, all LCS families are encouraged to serve, regardless of whether they are required to do so. Parents, grandparents, and guardians who volunteer play a vital role in strengthening our school community.

Whether you are helping at an event, supporting a classroom, cheering from the sidelines, or greeting guests at a performance, your service reflects the hands and feet of Christ and strengthens the heart of our school.

Who Participates in VSP?

  • Families receiving tuition assistance, including financial aid, scholarships, or other tuition discounts, are required to participate in the Volunteer Service Program each academic year.

Volunteer Hour Requirements

Families receiving tuition assistance must complete:

  • 20 volunteer hours per enrolled student each academic year

  • Maximum of 40 hours per family per year

Additional provisions include:

  • Families hosting international students automatically fulfill their VSP requirement.

  • Families may donate volunteer hours to assist another family, up to 50% of the receiving family’s total annual requirement.

  • All donated hours must be approved by the VSP Coordinator.

  • Families who do not complete their required hours may become ineligible for tuition assistance in the following academic year, unless an exception is approved by school administration.

Volunteer Safety Requirements

To ensure the safety and well-being of our students, the following steps must be completed before volunteering.

Step 1 - Complete the Volunteer Interest Form

Submit the form by clicking here: VSP Interest Form

Step 2 - Complete a Background Check

Prior to serving as a volunteer in any capacity, a completed and approved background check must be on file. Background checks are renewed every 12 months for active volunteers.

If you have never completed a background check, or your background check is more than 12mons old, please submit the authorization form here: https://tinyurl.com/LCMvolunteerauthorization.

If you are unsure of your background check status, please contact VSP@lenawee.org.

Step 3 - Create Your Final Forms Account

After submitting your background check authorization, you will receive an email inviting you to create a “Staff” Final Forms account. This account is required for volunteers in order to complete required trainings and maintain background check records.

Step 4 - Complete Required Trainings

Within Final Forms, volunteers must:

  • Watch the Child Safety Training Video

  • Review the Risk Management Plan – Child Abuse and Other Misconduct Policy

Additional training may be required for individuals serving as coaches.

Step 5 - Sign-up for Volunteer Opportunities

Once your background check and trainings are complete, you will be cleared to serve; our VSP Coordinator will confirm your eligibility with you. To view and sign up for our available volunteer opportunities, please visit: https://www.lenawee.org/vsp-opportunities.

Step 6 - Log Your Volunteer Hours

Each family is responsible for logging completed volunteer hours in their FACTS Family Portal(District Code: lc-mi).

Hours may include service completed by any family member on behalf of the household.

Volunteer hour reporting operates on an honor system. Any falsification of reported hours may result in termination from the Volunteer Service Program and ineligibility for future tuition assistance.

A step-by-step guide on how to log your hours within the Family Portal is available here.

Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year, and we would love to help you find a way to serve that fits your schedule and interests.
