Lenawee Christian School Celebrates 50 Years of Faith, Education and Lasting Influence
October 2 Homecoming Celebration Will Honor the Merillat Family and Five Decades of Christian Education
ADRIAN, Mich. — Fifty years ago, Ruth and Orville Merillat took a step of faith that would help shape generations.
With a deep belief in the importance of Christ-centered education, the Merillats helped establish a vision for a school where students could grow academically while being grounded in biblical truth. What began as a small beginning has grown into a lasting legacy, impacting generations of students, families, educators and the greater Lenawee County community.
This fall, Lenawee Christian School will celebrate 50 years of faith, education and influence during a special Homecoming celebration on Friday, October 2.
The celebration will bring together alumni, families, former staff, students and community members to honor the school’s history while looking ahead to its future.
A Family Legacy of Faithfulness
Ruth and Orville Merillat’s vision and commitment to Christian education helped lay the foundation for what LCS would become.
Their belief was simple but powerful: children should have the opportunity to learn in an environment where academic excellence and biblical truth go hand in hand.
Over the years, that vision was carried forward by countless individuals, including their family. Richard and Lynette Merillat have continued to faithfully invest in and support the mission of Lenawee Christian, helping ensure the foundation laid generations ago continues to impact students and families today.
As part of the October 2 celebration, Lenawee Christian School will formally honor Richard and Lynette Merillat and their family’s lasting contribution to the school and its mission.
The evening will also include a special alumni tent, providing an opportunity for generations of Cougars to gather, reconnect and celebrate together amidst the evening’s Homecoming festivities.
Celebrating Generations of Alumni
Homecoming will also provide an opportunity to welcome alumni back to campus and recognize milestone classes from throughout the school’s history.
Special recognition will be given to the:
Class of 1987
Class of 1997
Class of 2007
Class of 2017
From the school’s first graduating class in 1987 to today’s students preparing for their own futures, generations of LCS alumni have carried the influence of their education into their families, careers, churches and communities.
Influence for Life. A Life of Influence.
For five decades, Lenawee Christian School has been shaped by the people who believed in its mission and invested their prayers, resources, talents and time into its future.
The school’s 50th anniversary theme, “Influence for Life… A Life of Influence…”, reflects the lasting impact of a Christ-centered education and the generations of students who have gone on to make a difference in the world around them.
As Lenawee Christian celebrates its first 50 years, the anniversary is not simply about looking back.
It is also about looking forward.
“The same God who guided Lenawee Christian School through its first fifty years will continue to lead it into the next fifty,” Richard and Lynette Merillat shared in their anniversary message.
Lenawee Christian School invites alumni, former staff, families, supporters and the Lenawee County community to join in celebrating this historic milestone on October 2.
50 Years of Faith. Generations of Influence. One Lasting Legacy.
