Lenawee Christian Ministries provides a Christ-centered education, spiritual development, and wellness services to the Lenawee County community, centered around Jesus Christ.
Position Summary:
The Librarian should be a person who enjoys working with students. They should provide a media program that strengthens the school's educational program. They should promote the enjoyment of reading, stimulate learning, and instruct in library research skills. The person who fulfills this role must be willing to accept the responsibilities of overseeing the operation of the library, maintaining student discipline, and promoting good relationships among the teachers, staff, and parents.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop a curriculum for library instruction for elementary grades.
2. Help set up a schedule for each elementary classroom for a weekly library time.
3. Manage the circulation of books. Maintain check-out policies, shelve books as they are returned, and communicate student fines as necessary (with both students and parents).
4. Assist students with book selection and research.
5. Administer discipline, as needed, for students in the library. Be fair but firm and be consistent in the handling of situations.
6. Introduce a variety of literary experiences to promote the student's desire to read, especially through the organization of special activities, such as the book fair or library read-a-thons.
7. Set up training and scheduled work for high school library aides. A
grade will be given for their work, based on competency, reliability, and attitude.
8. Be available for teachers to confer with about their library needs and for suggestions to enhance the library collection and/or library policies.
9. Conduct a yearly inventory to prevent any great loss to the collection and to encourage student responsibility in returning their materials.
10. Keep the library clean and neat. Encourage each person to clean up after him or herself.
11. Deal with any parent-student questions or concerns which may arise. Advise administration of any action which may need to be taken.
12. Maintain the library collection. See that all materials are ordered and paid for properly, that outdated books are weeded out, that books are properly processed and repaired, and that books are easily available to those for whom they are intended. A collection policy must be set forth to obtain books which are up-to-date and fill a need in the collection. As much as possible, books should be checked for content to see that they are in line with biblical principles (using the LCS Library Philosophy Statement).
13. Maintain the library computer software and add updates when available.

Christian Faith:
Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Adherence to Christian principles and values in both personal and professional life.
Educational Background/Experience:
· Experience working in a school library or educational environment preferred.
· Strong knowledge of children’s and young adult literature.
· Proficient in library management systems and educational technology.
· Excellent communication and organizational skills.
