Position: Pre-K Lead Teacher

Classification: Part-time (with the potential to move to full-time)

Reports to: Head of School

Lenawee Christian Ministries provides a Christ-centered education, spiritual development, and wellness services to the Lenawee County community, centered around Jesus Christ.   

 

Position Summary:

The Pre-K Lead Teacher supports the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of children aged 3–5 by delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate activities in a safe and nurturing environment. This role includes curriculum implementation, classroom management, and fostering positive relationships with children, families, and staff. This position will start as a 3-day per week assignment with the potential to move to 5-day per week assignment after one year.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum & Instruction

·         Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with early learning standards (e.g., state Pre-K guidelines).

·         Provide a balance of teacher-led and child-initiated learning, incorporating literacy, numeracy, science, and social skills.

·         Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Classroom Management

·         Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment.

·         Set clear expectations for behavior and promote positive social-emotional development.

·         Supervise and guide assistant teachers, interns, or volunteers.

Assessment & Documentation

·         Conduct ongoing observations and formal assessments to track student progress.

·         Maintain accurate documentation and use data to inform instruction.

·         Prepare individual developmental reports and participate in parent-teacher conferences.

Family & Staff Collaboration

·         Build strong relationships with parents through regular communication and updates.

·         Collaborate with teaching team and administrative staff to support student success.

·         Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development.

 

Qualifications: 

Christian Faith:

·         Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. 

·         Adherence to Christian principles and values in both personal and professional life. 

Educational Background: 

·         Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

·         State certification or credential required for Pre-K instruction

·         Minimum 2 years of experience in a licensed early childhood education setting
