Lenawee Christian School Hosts National “History Rocks!” Tour Stop in Celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary
ADRIAN, MI — Lenawee Christian School welcomed state and national leaders to campus this week as the exclusive Michigan host site for the U.S. Department of Education’s History Rocks! Trail to Independence Tour, a nationwide initiative celebrating America’s upcoming 250th birthday.
As one of only fifty schools selected across the country, LCS served as Michigan’s sole tour stop, hosting more than 200 students in grades six through twelve for an interactive and engaging civic education experience. The program featured historical games, student participation, and remarks from Don Cooper, Chief Operating Officer of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation, along with other distinguished guests.
The History Rocks! tour is designed to energize students about Revolutionary history, America’s founding principles, and the ongoing responsibilities of citizenship. Through engaging activities and reflection, students explored themes of freedom, civic responsibility, leadership, and the enduring impact of American ideals.
“At LCS, we believe understanding history strengthens character. Hosting the History Rocks!tour allows our students to explore the legacy of our nation while reflecting on the responsibility that comes with freedom,” said Tricia Merillat McGuire, President of Lenawee Christian Ministries.
“Our students are living in a pivotal moment in history. As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, this program encourages them to think critically about where we have been and where we are going,” said Dr. Kristy Taylor, Executive Director & Head of Lenawee Christian School.
The event also included student reflections and opportunities for attendees to connect historical principles with present-day leadership and service. Families and members of the press were invited to attend, reinforcing the school’s commitment to community engagement and transparent educational excellence.
The History Rocks! initiative is part of a broader national effort leading up to the United States Semiquincentennial in 2026. Schools across all fifty states are participating in programs designed to strengthen civic literacy and encourage appreciation for America’s founding documents and democratic institutions.
Lenawee Christian School remains committed to equipping students academically, spiritually, and civically — preparing them not only for college and career, but for lives of leadership and service.
